Gary Walsh

President

A veteran leader, Gary has over 35 years experience of executive service with a wide variety of Christian organizations. With three honorary doctoral degrees and a graduate degree in theology, Gary is committed to bringing individuals, charities and churches together for the common good. It was during his most recent tenure as CEO of a global organization focused on facilitating partnerships among charities to increase effectiveness, that Gary became convinced of the need for a greater synthesis between business and charity.

"I know the power of charities working in concert for the greater good," he says. "I feel privileged to serve with Opportunity International Canada; I am moved by the challenge to bring the power of Canadian individuals and businesses into relationship with the unharnessed power of the individual in the developing world. We should never underestimate the potential of an entrepreneur with the will to achieve their dreams—wherever he or she may live in the world."

Gary and his wife Ellen live in Toronto and have three sons and seven grandchildren.
