Opportunity International is a global coalition of 45 partner organizations (implementing and support) working together in 27 countries around the world. Five partners raise funds and awareness of programs in the developed world; the remainder work in the developing world. All are dedicated to providing opportunities for people in chronic poverty to transform their lives.

Overseeing the operations, standards, quality and programs of all partner organizations is the Opportunity International Network.

With a Board of Directors made up of members of different Support Partner Boards all over the world, the Opportunity International Network’s key mandate is to apply the core values of respect, commitment to the poor, integrity and stewardship to worldwide operations.

How does it work?

  1. The Network monitors all partner financial information and collects and publishes them in a quarterly journal. Partners must remain accountable to the Network in order to receive funding.
  2. The Network has developed training and technical service divisions: Investment Services, Management Information Services (MIS), Product Development, Member Services, and Human Resources. These divisions provide expertise in banking, operations, methodology, and are researching cutting edge tools to deal with global issues such as HIV/AIDS.
  3. To maximize economies of scale, reach many more of the world's poor with financial services and the love of God, the Network has drafted an aggressive vision of growth to reach 2 million clients by 2010. Growth hinges on three core principles:
    1. Building partner organizations to national scale
    2. Maintaining a transformational focus
    3. Converting some partners into formal financial institutions.
